Transformational and Transactional Leadership on Business Outcomes in Latin America: systematic review

Introduction: In Latin America, characterized by economic and socio-political complexity, coupled with a constant change of high business competitiveness, leadership styles play an essential role in organizational performance. Objective: To characterize the influence of transformational and transactional leadership on business results in Latin American companies. Methodology: A systematic literature review was carried
out using the PRISMA methodology. The study considered 48 articles published between 2020 and 2025 in databases such as Scopus, Redalyc and Dialnet. Rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, selecting exclusively open access articles that addressed leadership and organizational performance in private companies, whose study contexts were of Latin American origin. Results: Transformational leadership
is positively associated with innovation, staff motivation and strategic development, while transactional leadership showed mixed effects, standing out for its operational efficiency, but with limitations in adaptability. Conclusions: Transformational
leadership is essential for sustainability and competitiveness in the Latin American context, recommending hybrid approaches that integrate the strengths of both styles to improve organizational performance.
