Abstract

According to López and Portela (2023) they describe an educational project designed to improve reading comprehension at an inferential level in second grade students. A detailed description of the project
objectives, the implemented methodology and the expected results is presented. In addition, the importance of inferential reading comprehension in the development of critical thinking skills and learning enrichment
is highlighted. Above all, the article addresses the crucial aspect of the development of inferential skills in reading comprehension, exploring effective pedagogical strategies to enhance this fundamental skill in students. The importance of inferences in the deep understanding of texts and their direct relationship with the construction of meaning is also highlighted. Now, the article examines the theoretical basis of
inferences in the reading process, making reference to cognitive studies and relevant pedagogical theories. It emphasizes how inferences not only expand textual understanding, but also promote critical thinking and analytical skills. In this order of ideas, this presents a series of pedagogical strategies designed to cultivate
inferential skills in students. These strategies range from explicit teaching approaches to more interactive methods, adapted to address various learning needs. The importance of integrating these strategies
coherently in curricular planning to guarantee their effectiveness over time is also highlighted.
