Impact of globalization on the operations of the Buenaventura regional port company:an exploratory study from 2019 to the present

In the port activities carried out in Colombia, it has been possible to notice a variety of changes as a result
of the development of processes concentrated in foreign trade and logistics activities, thus generating
a greater requirement to complete the processes satisfactorily. This is how globalization immersed in
processes represents a challenge that stimulates port entities, because it requires developing not only effective processes but also developing the appropriate infrastructure for the new challenges acquired by the great international demand. Globalization defined as a process that has intensified the interconnection and interdependence of economies and societies worldwide has had a profound impact on seaports, such as Buenaventura, which stands out as a fundamental strategic node in the chain. global supply for the country. This article examines how globalization has affected the operations of the port of Buenaventura, analyzing
changes in infrastructure, operational efficiency, competitiveness and adaptation to new commercial demands.
