Abstract
Studies of organizational dynamics in light of the concept of power abound in the academy, although there is a gap between its theoretical body and quantitative research. This article of scientific and technological research uses a measurement index based on the concept of organizational power distribution of Sauder and Espeland (2009) with the objective of measuring the average perceptions of Portuguese workers relative to the power held by the maximum leader of each organization, depending on the workers’ age and time of service. The results obtained by applying quantitative methodology to the data collected on a survey, point to the existence of statistical evidence of homogeneity at the level of the perceptions of the power held by the maximum leader of each organization as a function of the age and seniority of workers, with a high average value for global perceptions (about 7 points in 10 possible).
